How we work

From existing data to reliable financial steering.

How an engagement actually runs — from the first assessment through the build to ongoing monthly support.

The process

Your engagement in five steps.

01

Initial call and assessment

We clarify your situation, decision needs, systems and the level of support you are looking for.

Outcome: an initial view of whether Northmont is the right fit, technically and in scope.

02

Data and finance assessment

We analyse accounting data, existing reports, operational systems, data quality and financial processes.

Outcome: a prioritised list of issues and a concrete implementation plan.

03

Build and implementation

We develop forecasts, reports, KPIs, models and responsibilities together with your management.

Outcome: working financial steering, not just a presentation.

04

Testing and handover

We review results, resolve discrepancies and lock in the monthly routines.

Outcome: a robust process with clear responsibilities.

05

Ongoing support

Monthly updates, analysis, the management meeting and continuous improvement.

Outcome: regular decision support.

Duration

A typical setup phase: four to eight weeks.

Duration and effort depend mainly on data quality, the system landscape and the scope of implementation you want.

Week 1Kick-off, goal definition and data request.
Weeks 2–3Assessment, data review and target picture.
Weeks 3–6Building the models, reports and processes.
Weeks 6–8Testing, alignment, documentation and go-live.

Working together

From the first call to a steady monthly rhythm.

We build the structures and keep running them together with your team — month after month.

Working together

Clear roles in the engagement.

Northmont

Analysis, build and operation of reporting, planning and controlling — plus the monthly management meetings.

Management

Goals, priorities and decisions; a dedicated contact and participation in the monthly review.

Bookkeeping and tax advisor

Day-to-day bookkeeping, annual accounts, tax and filings — we build on this data.

What we need from you
  • one responsible point of contact
  • timely access to relevant financial and operational data
  • regular alignment during the setup
  • sign-off on the reports we develop
  • management participation in the monthly review
Engagement models

Ongoing support or a clearly scoped project.

Ongoing financial steering

A setup phase followed by monthly support — ongoing planning and reporting your management can rely on.

Project-based support

A clearly scoped project, for example financing, transaction preparation, process improvement or bespoke modelling.

Special projects also begin with a structured analysis, but end with defined deliverables and do not necessarily require ongoing support.

Common questions

Data, systems, meetings.

What data do you need to start?
At the core, accounting data, management accounts, open items and liquidity and system data. In the initial call we clarify what exists and what is needed.
Do we have to change our systems?
Usually not. We work on your existing systems — DATEV, Excel and operational source systems — and connect them rather than replacing them.
How do the monthly meetings work?
After the report and forecast are updated, we discuss the results in a 60–90 minute management meeting with concrete recommendations.
Is there a minimum term?
Ongoing support runs as a monthly retainer — for as long as it stays useful to you. Special projects are clearly scoped from the start.
Initial call

What would working together look like in your company?

In a no-obligation initial call we clarify your data situation, the support you need and a realistic process.
